Free Swim Fridays

Deer Hunt in Loomis

The Placer County Board of Supervisors is considering a deer hunt in Loomis. The reason for this is said to be the number of car accidents that have ocured this past year.

Where should moderate priced housing be built?

The State of CAlifornia requires Loomis to provide 200 moderate price living units. The Planning Commission has indicated a couple of possible locations, The include on Sierra College Blvd across from the college, next to th KOA camp ground on Taylor Road and Next to Clark Powers School.
What location do you favor or do you have a different location?. The site needs to be a minimum of 5 acres.

State takes Loomis Money

The State of CAlifornia is planning to take 8% of Loomis property tax to help balance the state budget. Before this more the Town of Loomis had lost $350,000 in revenues because of declining property taxes and reduced sales tax. Now the state wants to farther Loomis financial problem by taking and additional amount of money from the Town.
Enought is enought. Call Ted Gaines in Sacramento and tell him to oppose this idea.

Loomis Hires Park and Open Space Planners

The Town of Loomis has hired ERM and associates to prepare the town's park, open space and stream plan. This plan will indicate where future parks should be located, How open space can be saved and how the creeks can be used by the whole community.
Work on this plan should begin in July with a series of public workshops. For additional information check the town of Loomis web site.

Best Tennis Players Comming to Loomis

Some of the top tennis players in the world will be at Del Oro from June 9 to 14. They will be competing for $10,000 in prizes, The best thing is that the tournament is FREE. All the seat are at court side. You can see a tennis ball go over 100 mph. Drop by Del Oro to see this great event

New Business in Town

The Black Bear Outdoor store has open in Loomis. Located on Taylor Road across from the Blue Goose this upscale sporting goods store carries a line of back packing equipment, rafts and does bike repairs . It also has fishing gear and supplies. Drop in an say "hello"

I love Loomis

"I love Loomis" has been chosen as the theme by local business for an campaign to attract customers to downtown Loomis. The campaign is being headed by Peter Oates and his firm.
Posters and other material based around the theme will be produced. The Town of Loomis has contributed $5,000 to this project. By a motion by Council member Ucovich the original $2,000
amount was raised to $5,000.

Downtown Business We lattended


Over 80 people attended the downtown business meeting on Monday January 19 at the Loomis train Depot. A presentation was made on prior plans for downtown and then a question and snswer period was held. A sig-up was taken of people who would like to be on various groups to work on plan for the downtown and improvement of business. The meetin gwas run by mayor Walt Schear.
