Empty Buildings

Yes there are a lot of empty commercial buildings. To resolve this problem I asked the council to prepare a downtown action plan that would address this problem. Other cities faced with the same problem have solved it with a action plan.
The council denied my request

So are you going to give up then?

No I am trying to get Gary Liss elected so we can move forward

Do your job instead of campaigning.

If this is really your answer, then you really need to get off the Council.

Hearing this answer just makes me ill.

How do you keep getting re-elected with an attitude like that?

That is exactly my question, how does this idiot keep getting elected?

You people are absolutely rude, you don't have lower yourself to name calling to disagree with this man. How can you be surprised at a politician campaigning? If you think you can do a better job, then by all means run for the job.

So we ask about him about empty downtown commercial buildings and he says that he asks the Council to prepare an downtown action plan and he says that they deny his request, so his answer is to work to getting Gary Liss elected. What? I'm lost now. How does working to get Gary Liss elected help with the empty commecial building problem in our downtown area? What if Gary Liss doesn't get elected, then what?

It seems that Ucovich tends to trend to this type of action. I've seen it on other issues. This is not name calling, it's a fact. He gives up when he should continue on to fight for what needs to be addressed. Does he feel that he can't do anything without a buddy on the Council? Is this part of our problem of our own Town Council not being able to work together to get our Town problems resolved.

Ucovich will be on our Town Council for another two years. The infighting & setting up camps within our Town Council does nothing to help our Town.

Council get over it, represent our Town! Do your job! Raise above! This is a good example of why people are so apathetic about government. Apathy is exactly why no one new is running for Town Council (oh, and the discouragement from Ucovich).

I agree, this is not being rude at all, this is absolutely fact and if the reader who thinks we are 'picking on' Ucovich has read any of this blog they would understand, this is the culmination of a lot of frustration towards this man and the time he wastes on the town council trying to either satisfy a grudge he has or just plain old keeping the pot stirred up, so nothing ever gets done.

I have no problem with your disagreeing with his effectiveness, it is calling people "idiot" behind anonymous postings that is rude. I've read this blog from the beginning, it's the only councilperson's blog I'm aware of. And all I see is post after post complaining, but I don't see any of the arm chair quarterbacks stepping up to fill the role.

We would love to, but as you can even read in Ucovich's own blog of August 26th, these are his words of encouragement, with no offer of his own to help anyone, except for Gary Liss:

If the person is familiar with how government functions, namely budgeting, planning, community involvement. goals and objectives then the amount of time would be between 15 and 20 hours a month. This would be 3 hrs for the council meeting, 2 hrs for reviewing the agenda, 3 hrs serving on another commission, 2 hrs reviewing that material and 5 to 10 hrs for misc items and meetings.
If a person had no background or prior experience then the time could be from 30 to 60 hours a month. The better a person comes to serve on the council the less time they need to put in.

Even with Next Spring in Loomis group & the FPPC ruling that he still so vehemently complains about, they were unsucessful in getting him off of the Council. Good luck to anyone who tries to run against this political machine, and God help our Town.

I second it, he is an idiot. OH and to the person who is complaining about another poster calling the idiot an idiot and doing this while hiding (ohhh scary) under the guise of anonymous, you TOO were under the guise of anonymous!! Hilarious!!

OK, so first he is an idiot, and now he is an un-stoppable political machine! Now that's hilarious.
