Here we go again . . .
another bond/assessment that the voters have voted down not so long ago is back on the ballot again.

LUSD finds very creative way to spend your hard earned dollars.

Check out the above web site for yourself.

So what are we up to now in new taxes?

Between the mosquito abatemtn (special election) and the LFPD assesement and now if the LUSD gets their bond passed. We won't be able to afford to live in Loomis any longer at this rate. Only the rich will be able to stay here. Our children sure as heck won't be able to.

And speaking of our children . . . they will be grown and out of college with children of their own before these bonds get paid off.

Good job Loomis on saddling our community with more & more taxes instead of expecting our government to live within their means just like we are expected to do.

Accountability is always an afterthought.

We are looking down the barrel of a major recession, property values are dropping like a lead balloon, and businesses don't seem to last too long in downtown Loomis.

Sure, let's get some more taxes on the rolls. We'll avert the Proposition 13 hogwash and raise the taxes, bonds, assessments (or whatever you'd like to call them) on the townpeople. On top of the thousands of dollars that we are already paying property taxes.

What are they doing with all of that money?

As far as the schools go it's just a pissing contest between schools & school districts to see who's gonna get the most outrageous school campus. Look at Western Placer mess. They built a clock tower and the builder defended by saying that it provides shelter.

If Placer & Franklin get something then Loomis & Penryn have to get the same.

I don't know what's gonna happen to the Power's parents when the vote comes around. They didn't throw them a bone this time. Why would they want to pay higher property taxes when their school gets zero?

This will be a hard one get to by the voters since the LFPD just got their assessment passed.

Timing is everything, this is a really bad time to ask for higher taxes. This is probably why LFPD didn't go thru the County again for an election, because with the way our economy is it never would have gotten passed with a regular vote.

Enough with throwing money at the schools! The town already gave them a truckload of money for a silly track which most of us will never use, and now we're being asked to pony up even more for multipurpose rooms and maintenance that should have been a priority with existing money. With the fire debacle that just got railroaded through, I hope this gets a resounding no.

Why don't we just have money transfers into the LUSD bank account? Do they think that just because we live in Loomis, we have unlimited funds to pay for these wasteful bonds?

We're already paying up the arse for taxes/assesments. And now another $170 or so for the fire department.

Some of us are on a fixed incomes and can't afford the higher taxes.

When will it end?

When I first read the Jan. 15th 2008 issue of the Loomis News, what with all of the articles in favor of Measure "G", I thought that I was reading the Loomis School News as one article in particular, "Education on the Ballot" included about 98% of information favoring the passage of Measure"G" and only 2% of statements from me, Anita Wright, who is on the ballot opposing Measure "G". My 2% in comments, believe it or not, was after a 40 minute interview with the Loomis News Staff Writer, Joyia Emard, who by the way is a staunch supporter of Measure "G". Don't newspapers like the Loomis News know that they are losing more and more readers each day by slanting so much of their news to one side, and not having a balanced view, especially when one was given in an interview? The Loomis News needs to figure out that more and more people are going to the Internet for their news because they are tired of "biased" reporting. Thye www.NoMeasureG.org web site is an overwhelming success based on traffic and statistics. Visit it and learn the facts--truth or fiction. Oh, by the way, these comments were input on line to the Comments Section of the above mentioned article, which Loomis News chose not to publish. Interesting, isn't it? You be the judge.

Why shoud I vote "YES" to finance the Loomis Union School District's growing empire?

When they take on another school, Ophir School being the latest, they end up going back to the Loomis voater and asking the taxpayers to foot the bill ultimately.

These mergers don't really save us any money.

The Measure G School Bond would be almost half way reasonable except for the fact that the bond also includes two brand spanking new multi-purpose rooms, one Loomis School and one for Penryn School that no one seems to want to talk about. Penryn School just merged with the LUSD a few years ago and now they are up for a multi-purpose room. Just wait next in line will be Ophir School on the next bond they’ll be asking for, and with LUSD track record for bonds that will be in another 6-7 years. I just don’t understand with all of the talk about wiring, plumbing, fire equipment, etc. why does Placer & Franklin Schools have brand new multi-purpose rooms sitting there? If their classrooms/bathrooms are in such disrepair why weren’t all of the classrooms/bathrooms in all of the schools in all of the LUSD made first priority, with the multi-purpose room’s second priority. This makes no sense to me at all! The best way that we can help our school district with out raising taxes is to attend school board meetings and/or read school board meeting minutes on-line. Hold our school district and school board accountable.
