A couple of points on downtown development.
Loomis has no redevelopment agency. Why not? Good question. Every time I bring it up no other council member favors it. A redevelopment agency would give the town money to do improvements in that area.
The position by most of the council has been that economic development is a function of the Chamber of Commerce and not the Town Council. I disagree. I asked that a new downtown development plan be done so we would have a road map as what to do. No action by the council.
Many of you have good ideas on what the downtown needs. COME TO A COUNCIL MEETING AND EXPRESS THEM.

Why would they listen to us if they don't even listen to you?
It seems like if they don't have the vision to see the need for this then I would rather express my ideas with my vote.
How about a petition or including this on the survey I've heard talk about?
I would like to draw something up on my computer-a design for the town. I think I could make it really cool, but that would require quite a bit of free time that I don't really have.
Tell me if I am wrong, but the way I understand it, the Chamber of Commerce doesn't have any authority to create official policy. Plus, it doesn't really have any significant source of funding. In other words, it is like the Town Council only with no money and no power to make anyone do anything. How is such a group supposed to head the revitalization of our dilapidated downtown?
