Does Loomis Need More Places to Shop

What are your feeling about more places to shop and eat in Loomis? What kind of stores would you like to see?
Drop me a line and let me know

We wish that Horseshoe Bar Grill would come back!

Downtown needs something that will make it a 'destination' location. An example would be a dinner theater or large 'unique dining experience' type restaurant (the fruit shed by the high hand nursery would be a perfect location). Ideally, I would like to see downtown be a series of specialty shops one could browse through before or after a great dinner at one of 3 or 4 nice restaurants (of which at least 2 are family restaurants).

I know this is not Loomis but it affects all of us. What is happening at Sierra College Blvd and Highway 80. I heard Wallmart and over pass. Does anyone know what it is and what the timing is.

Downtown is mired in a catch 22. Currently, there is no compelling reason for people to go there and spent time/money. Parts of it are run down and unsightly. The best way to spruce it up would be in encourage business investment, but no one wants to invest because like I said before there is no compelling reason to go downtown and parts of it are run down and unsightly and people don't spend time there.

I previously offered the idea of a 'destination restaurant' in the High Hand fruit shed. I still think that would be a great idea, but who are you going to get to make that sort of an investment? Especially when it sits next to a lumber yard, liquor store, and other run down store fronts.

I love the basic idea of Loomis, but some parts like are downtown area simply haven't been executed well. We need business investment. It would be great if most of it could come from 'little guys', but some of it should come from someone with deeper pockets.

I think the fruitshed would make a great indoor paintball course. Or an out-of-the-elements walking course for senior citizens and their dogs.

Loomis will need to promote it's town via tourism if they want folks to come here.
At this point the only thing that they really promote is the Eggplant Festival.
If they want more tourism/destination type businesses to come here (or any businesses at all), they'll need to shake their reputation as hard to get along/hard to deal with.
We've been the laughing stock of Placer County when it comes to the way that we do things here.
We are soo anti-growth it has now been to our determent. we need "Smart Growth" for our town, and our town needs to become more friendly and welcoming.
I live here and I've gone into several businesses around town and they come across as being hostile and unfriendly. They don't seem welcome to strangers. If we want stangers to come here we'lll have to become more welcoming & friendly.

I wish The Horseshoe Bar Grill could open up as more of a dinner house with menu options that could be suited to the general population. The HBG was NEVER geared for the people in this area, their targets were for people who lived elsewhere and wanted to come to the 'country' for dinner.

It is just a shame that such a nice building is just sitting there. A darn shame.

I would also love to see live theater in Loomis, something on the scale of The B Street Theater.

There is really not a thing to do in this town. It offers nothing on a regular basis to either draw revenue or even for the residents who live here.

Loomis a destination? Who would want to come here? Why? Go to Lincoln and see what they have done with their downtown. Yes, their traffic is a mess and they aren't dealing with it, but the downtown is colorful and fun and attracts visitors. What does Loomis have? The Wild Chicken is about the most colorful and interesting spot in "downtown." The rest is ho-hum at best and ugly at its worst. There is no personality, no continuity, nothing to attract locals, let alone visitors. We need help!!
